RHO CHICAGO, CO., was founded by model come entrepreneur Ruth H. Omanya in Chicago, Illinois in 2021. The company name, R H O are her full names initials, and 'Chicago' where the company was founded.

Originally, the company name was RHO MAKEUP INC. She later introduced botanical skincare, RHO COMPLEXIONS™ , Vegan Handbags, and Bridal Gown Collection.​ In the same year, the company name was amended twice to RHO HOLISTIC BEAUTY, INC and to what it currently is, RHO CHICAGO, CO. The old logo tagline "Holistic Beauty™" is today dedicated to the company's website blog and social media to promote its natural plant based botanical skincare and mineral makeup.

We have done extensive research with consideration to four key points when considering a manufacturer who would formulate all our natural and vegan beauty product lines:

1. Experience: How long the manufacturers had been in business was important.
2. GMPC: Did they have certification of Good Manufacturing Practice of Cosmetics?
3. ISO Certification: The manufacturer being ISO Certified meant that they had been audited by an independent 3rd party and that they have demonstrated their business conforms to the requirements of the latest quality process standards set by the International Standards Organization.
4. FDA & MSDS: Have ALL their formulas been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and can they provide the Material Data Safety Sheet for each item?

RHO STORY
It started out with MAKEUP & DRESS UP during lockdown!
For as long as I can remember, I have always been that quiet tomboy girl who preferred her own company to crowds. Earlier in life, I thought I could be one of the guys, climbing trees and treating my scars as just another souvenir from summer breaks. Apart from professionally applied makeup from runway and modeling photoshoot events, I hardly wore much makeup. I've always had a very sensitive skin and tried to be watchful of what I apply on my skin. I didn't seriously start exploring and experimenting applying makeup on my own until pandemic hit.

While in lockdown, I started experimenting with 'mineral makeup' that turned out to be gentle on my skin. I tried some makeup application techniques from video tutorials, dressed up, and took lot of selfies to reflect on the fun! Surprisingly, doing makeup turned out to be super fun! However, I struggled with color matching or finding a smooth foundation that was long-lasting and light-weight without the cakey build up. Completely frustrated by the cakey build up and unnatural foundation blend on my skin from the off-shade foundations I wore, I decided and started on a journey to research and launch my own makeup line. I started researching what works for my skin and what is generally healthy for all skin types.​ I wanted something that would not only be derived from natural ingredients, but would also be gentle enough to work on my sensitive skin.

As a busy individual who works around the clock, it was easy to get caught up in the motions of a busy lifestyle. I was beginning to experience sleep deprivation, low energy, unhealthy eating habits due to odd work schedules which further aggravated the appearance of my sensitive skin. These experiences triggered an urgent need for regular and adequate intake of important nutrients to restore my immune system defenses while boost energy, focus, and enhancing my overall state of well-being.
Now that I had made a change for myself, I was determined to do the same for others from different ages, backgrounds, and skin type in a holistic way. Today, my naturally derived makeup, botanical skincare products, and more can be found on the official websites rhochicago.com / rhomakeup.com / rhocomplexions.com while bridal gowns and accessories can be found on rhobridal.com.
